Mayor Scott Removes Owner-Occupied Homes from Tax Sale List for the Fifth Consecutive Year
Thursday May 8th, 2025
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
BALTIMORE, MD (Thursday, May 8, 2025) - Yesterday, Mayor Brandon M. Scott announced the removal of owner-occupied homes from the city's tax sale list following approval from the Board of Estimates.
This is the fifth consecutive year that Mayor Scott has removed these types of properties (which include single family dwelling, condo, and multifamily dwelling units where the owner permanently lives) from the tax sale process. This year, like 2024, Mayor Scott is specifically targeting the removal of owner-occupied homes assessed under $250,000. Additionally, the administration continues to work to implement a more efficient cloud-based tax payment system over the next few years. The new system is expected to allow for payment plans and automate several processes that are handled manually to improve service delivery to taxpayers.
The 2025 tax sale is scheduled for May 19, 2025.
