Baltimore Mayor's Office: Midday Update on Winter Storm Management

Snow Teams Continue to Treat & Clear Roads, Warming Stations Available at BCRP Facilities
BALTIMORE, MD (Wednesday, February 12, 2025) – Today, Mayor Brandon M. Scott issued the following midday update regarding the winter storm. The Baltimore City Emergency Operations Center (EOC) returned to normal operations as of 6:30 AM. The Office of Emergency Management in collaboration with the Mayor’s Office will continue to monitor weather forecasts, and projected conditions.
For updated weather forecasts and traffic conditions, residents should tune into local news stations, check social media resources and visit the city’s snow page at snow.baltimorecity.gov.
Forecast Update
The project forecast for today is a high near 38 degrees. East wind around 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. Total daytime snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
Ongoing Road Treatment & Crew Deployment
Baltimore City will continue to work with internal resources through 8:00PM this evening. Snow Crews are currently addressing icy conditions in an effort to decrease service requests citywide.
Remember:
- Drive slowly and stay home if possible
- Street sweeping is not in effect
- Do not park in emergency snow zones
- Do not crowd the plow
- Shovel and salt the areas outside of your home and business
- Check on elderly or sick neighbors
- Stay tuned to the DOT social media for tips and tricks for the weather
Closures & Service Delays
All City Schools will be closed on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, due to inclement weather. Essential employees should report on time. Non-essential district office employees should work remotely or take liberal leave.
All Enoch Pratt Free Library locations, except for the Central Branch, will be open today. The Central Branch will remain closed due to a power outage and is expected to reopen on Thursday, February 13, 2025.
All CAP centers are operating on normal hours today.
The Mt. Pleasant Ice Arena will be closed for all public sessions today.
Due to inclement weather, City operated senior centers will be closed today, February 12, 2025. All City operated senior centers will reopen Thursday, February 13, 2025.
Street sweeping will be suspended through February 13, 2025, and trash and recycling pickup will continue on schedule today. Crews may be delayed due to snow and icy conditions.
Code Purple Winter Shelter Activation
The Mayor’s Office of Homeless Services has declared Code Purple winter shelter activation until Thursday, February 13, 2025 at 9:00 a.m. Residents who are in need of emergency shelter should call the Baltimore City Shelter Hotline at (443) 984-9540 which has extended hours of operation during winter shelter activation from 8:30 a.m. – 9:00 p.m. After 9:00 p.m. residents should call (443) 695-7378 to be connected to the emergency shelter.
