FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

BALTIMORE, MD (Monday, April 8, 2024) - Today, Mayor Brandon M. Scott released the following statement regarding the full restoration of Highway User Revenue (HUR) Funding which passed the Maryland General Assembly.

“It’s impossible to overstate how important the full restoration of Highway User Revenue funding is to the City of Baltimore. After being gutted more than a decade ago, our city – which is the only jurisdiction in the state responsible for maintaining all state and interstate roadways ourselves – has been left without the resources our team needs. This restoration is a direct result of the months of advocacy from this administration, our counterparts in counties across the state, and so many community and private partners who know the importance of ensuring we have the proper resources to care for our roadways and pursue projects to rebuild our city’s critical infrastructure. I cannot thank all of them enough – especially both our House and Senate delegations in the General Assembly – for their work in delivering this massive victory for Baltimore residents and visitors alike.”
