BALTIMORE, MD. (Saturday, March 18, 2023) - Today, Mayor Brandon M. Scott issued the following statement regarding a fire that occurred at 2:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 18, 2023 that claimed the lives of three residents.

"I am heartbroken to learn about the tragic fire that claimed the lives of a family in our community last night. Losing a loved one is a devastating experience, and my thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends who are grieving this terrible loss.

I want to express my sincere appreciation to the brave firefighters and first responders who risked their lives to save others and contain the fire. Their dedication and selflessness are an inspiration to us all, and we owe them a debt of gratitude for their heroic efforts.

In the aftermath of this tragedy, we are committed to supporting those affected in every way we can. We will work closely with the family, friends, and community members to provide them with the resources and support they need during this difficult time.

We will also conduct a thorough investigation into the cause of the fire to determine what happened and how we can prevent similar tragedies from occurring in the future.

To the family and friends of those who perished in this fire, please know that our entire community is here to support you. We stand with you in your grief and offer our deepest condolences."
