FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

BALTIMORE, MD. (Monday, May 2, 2022) — Mayor Brandon M. Scott released the following statement in response to the leaked draft Supreme Court opinion to strike down the Roe v. Wade ruling:

"The apparent decision to strike down a woman’s right to make her own choices about her own body is horrific.

This is especially alarming given that Black women across the country, who already face disparate health challenges and barriers to care, stand to be harmed the most by this appalling decision.

I am not going to stand by and watch this atrocity take place. I am ready to stand up and protect what is a fundamental human right. Congress must act now by codifying Roe v. Wade."
