BALTIMORE, MD (Monday, June 17, 2024) – Today, Mayor Brandon M. Scott released the following statement on the City Council’s passage of the Fiscal Year 2025 Budget.

“Tonight, the Baltimore City Council unanimously voted to pass the Fiscal Year 2025 Budget without any amendments. At the beginning of this budget process, our city was staring down a more than $100 million deficit that we were able to close without cutting services or eliminating the jobs of any city workers. This budget maintains important investments that will sustain our historic reductions in gun violence, bolster our work to support Baltimore’s young people through Recreation & Parks and unprecedented funding in City Schools, and continue to modernize city government to improve services for all residents.

“The investments made in this year’s budget — and our ability to overcome our original structural deficit without any cut to services — became all that more important after the tragedy of the Key Bridge collapse, which our city will feel the impacts of for years to come. I want to extend my thanks and gratitude for the partnership and collaboration of my team, the Council President, and the entire City Council who put the needs of all Baltimoreans first and delivered a budget that we can all be proud of.”
