BALTIMORE, MD (Tuesday, March 19, 2024) — Today, Mayor Brandon M. Scott, alongside the Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW) and Mayor’s Office of Community Affairs, announced the return of the Mayor’s Annual Spring Clean-up and day of service, which will be held on April 27, 2024.

Residents, volunteer groups, and community associations are encouraged to register now to be part of the city-wide effort to beautify neighborhoods. The event will run on Saturday, April 27, 2024, from 9 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

“Every year, the Mayor’s Spring Cleanup brings together hundreds of residents in service to clean and beautify the neighborhoods where they live, work, and play,” said Mayor Brandon M. Scott. “Not only is this an opportunity to make our communities healthier and cleaner as the weather warms, it’s also an opportunity to strengthen bonds between neighbors and residents who love Charm City. When we work together, we create stronger neighborhoods and a stronger Baltimore.”

Mayor Scott, accompanied by cabinet members representing City agencies, volunteer-led cleaning crews, and DPW Solid Waste workers, will visit communities participating in the clean-ups.

Community associations, block leaders, volunteers, and organizations throughout the city are encouraged to call 311 to register their cleaning activities. Participants who register their cleaning activities can request that City trucks visit their locations to collect debris.

“The Mayor’s Spring Cleanup reinforces the importance of a strong partnership with the community members and volunteers is essential to creating clean and healthy neighborhoods,” said Acting DPW Director Khalil Zaied. “Every year, this event helps further connect the community with their DPW workers and the vital services they provide. DPW is constantly working to strengthen our connection to neighborhoods across the city, and this event demonstrates what can be accomplished when residents from across the city come together.”

In addition to pre-registered events, during this citywide day of cleaning, residents are encouraged to take part by cleaning where they live by cleaning up loose litter around their properties, alleyways, and curbsides.

For registered community groups, DPW will provide 50 trash bags to support cleaning activities. To support individual cleaning activities, DPW will provide five trash bags to registrants. Starting March 25, bags can be picked up at the following DPW locations: 2840 Sisson St. (Monday- Saturday) or 111 Kane St. (Monday-Friday) from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. Participants should be ready to provide registration information to receive their collection bags. Residents can also request stormwater credit applications when calling 311 to register their cleaning activity.

Trash and debris can be bagged and placed out with weekly scheduled trash collections for pickup. Residents can also bring bagged trash to the Residential Drop-Off Centers. Participants who are disposing of collected debris at the Residential Drop-off Centers must follow the drop-off centers’ guidelines, which do not allow commercial vehicles.

Unfortunately, no household bulk trash items will be collected, and roll-off dumpsters will not be distributed as part of this year’s Spring Cleanup. Residents who want to clear out bulk items from their households are encouraged to call 311 to schedule a bulk collection of up to three items.
