BALTIMORE, MD. (Tuesday, January 25, 2022) — Friday evening, Mayor Brandon M. Scott swore in members of the Commission on Aging and Retirement Education. 

The Commission on Aging and Retirement Education is one of Baltimore City’s most prominent advisory boards. Established in the 1960’s, CARE has a long and proud history of serving the needs of older adults in the city. It advises City Hall on issues that matter to older Baltimoreans and recommends strategies for strengthening vital services for senior residents, including senior centers, housing programs and in-home services. 

Mayor Brandon M. Scott applauded the work of CARE as he swore in its new members, calling the commission “an advocate for older adults in our City whose voices need to be heard, including residents of long term care facilities, family caregivers, and those on limited incomes.”

Mayor Scott said CARE plays an important role. “It helps guide us, so, by working together we can make Baltimore an age friendly city: a good place for older City residents to live, work, volunteer, and participate in improving our communities.”

Among the eighteen-member board, Mayor Scott appoints James Campbell, president of Maryland AARP and former State Delegate, and Olivia Farrow, St. Agnes Healthcare’s first Community Engagement Director, to lead as co-chairs.  A full membership list can be found here:  Commission on the Aging and Retirement Education (CARE) | Mayor Brandon M.
